Among the frequent cries of those for whom Christ came is "Lord, have mercy." From Blind Bartemaeus to the Canaanite woman, these saints present themselves before Christ as nothing but ones to be given to.

This Vacation Bible School program is based on these words. Of course, it is the Law that best places us in a position whereby we pray, "Lord, have mercy." And it is the Gospel in which the Lord in fact does have mercy.

This VBS, then, takes the child on a walk of faith through the Law and the Gospel. Five lessons accomplish this:

• Lesson 1: The Law as Curb (The Giving of the Ten Commandments)
• Lesson 2: The Law as Mirror (Portions on the Law from the Sermon on the Mount)
• Lesson 3: Repentance (The Pharisee and the Publican)
• Lesson 4: Forgiveness (Jesus and the adulterous woman)
• Lesson 5: Baptism (Pentecost)
